THIS IS WHAT I LOVE TO DO
That’s me, a five-year-old on Thanksgiving in 1982 with my dad's old film camera in my hands. It isn't just a nostalgic snapshot; it's the beginning of a lifelong connection to photography. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to capture the world around me through pictures. Decades later, with three amazing kids of my own, that love for photography is as strong as ever.
It's my own family that truly inspires me. Watching my children grow has made me deeply appreciate the fleeting nature of childhood—those genuine giggles, spirited rough-housing, and quiet snuggles. These are the precious, unscripted moments I believe every family deserves to hold onto.
This has also been my career for over 25 years. I've had the opportunity to work for TV shows, magazines, non-profits, and higher education, developing my craft and perspective. But at its heart, photography has always been about more than just a job; it's about preserving life's most important memories.
WHY BLUE BICYCLE?
My first taste of true freedom came on two wheels: a hand-me-down Schwinn, blue with whitewall tires. That bicycle wasn't just a toy; it was my ticket to countless adventures, a symbol of childhood innocence and boundless possibility. That feeling of unburdened joy, that wide-eyed wonder, is something most of us recall with deep affection. As a parent, I've been fortunate to rediscover that freedom and wonder with my own children.
So, why Blue Bicycle? It represents that pure, simple joy of exploration, the freedom to be truly yourself, and the precious, fleeting moments of childhood. It's about looking back with fondness and cherishing the journey.
